Stirling Arts Event and Activation Strategy

The City of Stirling is the largest Council in Western Australia, with a diverse and multi-cultural community. Stirling’s area of governance takes in beach, bushland and urban centres. The population in Stirling is growing and accordingly the residents have an increased expectation of enjoying a rich, connected, cultural life. The City of Stirling has commissioned Apparatus to develop a  suite of Action Plans to provide direction for the City of Stirling and help support the realisation of the City’s vision for arts and events. This project is a significant undertaking for the City of Stirling. It will be the first time the City has clearly articulated its planned actions for.

Riverside Public Art Strategy

The MRA’s Riverside redevelopment is intended to revitalise the gateway to the city by transforming the area into a cosmopolitan waterfront community and tourist destination. The area will feature a new inlet, urban beach, hotels and short stay accommodation, landscaped boardwalks, public art, walkways, cycle paths, a river playground, local shops and is set to become an exciting sports, recreation and entertainment precinct. Riverside sits across 40ha of land which encompasses Trinity College, Queens Gardens, the West Australian Cricket Association (WACA), Gloucester Park and the banks of the Swan River. Apparatus was commissioned by the MRA to undertake research and consultation to develop a new Riverside.

Koombana Bay Interpretation and Public Art Plan

Since 2014 the South West Development Commission (SWDC) have been developing the Transforming Bunbury’s Waterfront Project to deliver a world class waterfront providing a major destination for locals and visitors that extends from Koombana Bay in the east to Casuarina Boat Harbour and the Bunbury Outer Harbour to the west. The project will provide landscaped community spaces, foreshore commercial and residential developments, a thriving marine precinct and a redevelopment of the Dolphin Discovery Centre. The redevelopment of the Koombana Bay Foreshore is the first stage of this significant project for Bunbury and will create a regionally significant coastal recreational area within the Greater Bunbury region. Apparatus prepared the Koombana Bay Interpretation and Public Art.

Cottesloe Foreshore

Cottesloe Foreshore Redevelopment

Cottesloe Beach is a Western Australian icon, recognised as the most popular beach in Perth, and a place to go for visitors to Western Australia. Apparatus was employed on the Cardno design team to undertake the public art and interpretive elements of the Cottesloe Foreshore Renewal Masterplan. The Town of Cottesloe intends to redevelop the public spaces of the Cottesloe Foreshore in conjunction with the growing interest in private development. In addition, the Town desires to create a safe and vibrant public space that is sympathetic to its heritage as a place with significant social and Indigenous history. The Interpretation.

Melville City Centre Public Art Review Report & Strategy

The Melville City Centre is one of the largest centres south of the Swan River, in the Perth Metropolitan area, and is the key Activity Centre in the City of Melville. A new planning framework for the area, the Melville City Centre Structure Plan was developed, which provides for the Activity Centre’s transition over time from a shopping complex to a sophisticated mixed use city centre.
