Call for EOIs – Wadjemup | Rottnest West End Redevelopment

The West End Artworks will be integrated into the landscape design and will continue to enrich and grow the contemporary Aboriginal heritage of the Island and provide meaningful experiences for visitors to this sacred place.

APPARATUS is seeking Western Australian artists interested in developing an artwork as part of the Wadjemup | Rottnest West End Redevelopment.

The objective for the redevelopment is to open the western side of the island through a West End Transport Hub, to provide enhanced visitor experiences, and further to reveal to visitors the outstanding natural, Aboriginal cultural heritage and built heritage features of the West End.

Two design only opportunities are offered:

  • an interpretive artwork application to shade canopies; and
  • an interpretive artwork treatment to ground plane and seating elements.

Artists can apply for one, or both projects.

Primarily the artwork must be:

  • an original work that communicates the Whadjuk Noongar cultural significance of Wadjemup; and
  • easily translated into the landscape design elements.

If you are an artist competent in communicating Noongar culture, we would love to hear from you.

Artists are invited to submit an EOI for this design only opportunity.

This project has been made possible by funding from the Australian Government and the State Government of Western Australia.
