APPARATUS is calling for Western Australian artists to register their interest in developing a new artwork for the Esperance Indoor Sports Stadium.

The Esperance Indoor Sports Stadium is a brand new, purpose built, $8.36 million facility, designed to replace the aging indoor sports stadium, and to provide a long-term home for local grassroots indoor sports.

The artwork proposed for the Esperance Indoor Sports Stadium is intended to be an exterior mural artwork.

The project will include a community engagement element through workshops and community participation painting sessions.

The Esperance Indoor Sports Stadium Artwork will speak of Esperance, the region and the local community.

The artwork design will express, energy, vibrancy, playfulness and a sense of fun.

The artwork project objectives are to:

• be an energetic statement, providing visitors to the Esperance Indoor Sports Stadium with a sense of fun and energy;
• create a dialogue between the building and the surrounding environment;
• become a landmark and a source of pride for the community; and
• provide an opportunity to strengthen community wellbeing, promote participation, and encourage community reconnection after a period of distancing and isolation.
